Andrew is a Chartered Counselling & amp; Chartered Occupational Psychologist and is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. He has a MSc in Occupational Psychology from UMIST, holds two diplomas in counselling and one certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapies. He is a British Psychological Society Registered Coaching Psychologist, is a Principal Member of the Association for Business Psychologist and a Founder Member of the Special Group of Coaching Psychologists.
He is very experienced in the area of stress, trauma and employee assistance and has run over 100 courses for all levels on counselling skills for managers, managing stress, maximising resilience, advanced telephone skills, coping with change and trauma support as well as having his own case-load of clients, many of which have stress-related issues. He has contributed to the various government consultations on stress (e.g. HSE/NICE) and was a member of the steering group which produced the Mind Out for Mental Health “Line Managers’ Resource: A practical guide to managing and supporting mental health in the workplace”.
He has published widely and is particularly interested in the management of stress and trauma through counselling support. Andrew is Head of a large employee assistance programme which delivers training, counselling and coaching products to increase the psychological health of individuals and organizations. He has held this role as for the last 10 years and is responsible for a large team of practitioners. He has been instrumental in the introduction of counselling programmes in a number of large organisations. He also has an ongoing interest in media psychology and has carried out numerous assessments on contributors for reality TV programmes plus providing after-care.
